How do pink dolphins become pink?

The Pink River dolphin or Boto is actually gray when it’s born or young. As they age their skin changes because of scars made during interactions with other Botos that reveal underlying tissues that cause their distinctive skin color which ranges from dark pink, light pink to almost white.
