Why does the giant panda bear have such tiny babies?

The giant panda bear does not give birth to a small baby. In fact, it gives birth to one of the largest newborns amongst carnivores, often weighing between 90 and 130 grams. Despite being tiny relative to their parents, panda cubs are still considered quite large compared to other newborn carnivores.
