Pomeranians are usually born with a soft, cottony undercoat and a longer, coarser outer coat. The long guard hairs typically begin to grow in when the puppy is between 3 and 6 months of age. However, the full, luxurious coat of a Pomeranian is not typically achieved until the puppy is between 12 and 18 months old. Some Pomeranians may take even longer to reach their full coat potential.
