Why is the Carolina wren state bird for South Carolina?

The Carolina wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus) is not the state bird for South Carolina. The Carolina wren is the state bird for North Carolina. The state bird for South Carolina is the Carolina wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus). The Carolina wren was designated as the state bird of South Carolina on March 16, 1948, by an act of the South Carolina General Assembly.
