How old is the rubber duck?

The first rubber duck is credited to Peter Ganine, a Russian immigrant living in the United States. At some point before 1949 (the exact year is lost to history), Ganine, who then owned and operated the Perrine Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, began producing a squeaking yellow duck toy by injection molding.
