Why do apes engage in mixed fighting?

There is no evidence that apes, such as chimpanzees or gorillas, engage in mixed fighting as a sport or competitive activity. Apes may engage in aggressive behaviors to establish dominance, defend their territory, or protect themselves and their group. However, these behaviors are not organized or structured like human martial arts or combat sports.
