How much blood can a horse lose before dying?

Horses have a much smaller blood volume compared to humans and are thus more susceptible to blood loss.

A loss of 1L (2 pints) of blood is considered dangerous. A loss of 2L (4.4 pints) or more is usually fatal within a few hours (if left untreated).
