What large rodent looks like beaver but has a fluffy tail in Rocky Mount NC?

There are no large rodents in the Rocky Mount area of North Carolina that resemble a beaver but have a fluffy tail. Although muskrats are native to the area, none of them are anywhere close to the size of a beaver.
