What does benzanipril do?

Benzanipril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by relaxing the blood vessels, decreasing peripheral resistance, and increasing intravascular volume, thus reducing blood pressure. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and congestive heart failure. It may also be used to improve survival after a heart attack.
